EHEIM classic 350 (2215)
Manufacturer-rated for 31–92 US gal aquariums.
EHEIM’s round canister filter with a simple pump head, holding 1.1 US gal of filter media; its pump moves 164 US gal an hour and lifts water up to 5 ft 11 in.
Consider: It has no priming button and no hose valves in the box: you start it by sucking on the outlet elbow until water flows, as EHEIM’s manual shows.

Pump output, filter circulation and maximum flow are measured in different ways. Your filter will move less water than the box says once media and hoses are in. Measure it with the flow calculator.
Before choosing this model
- Set it below the tank, with the pump head at least 10 cm (4 in) under the water level and no more than 180 cm (about 6 ft) from the water surface down to the filter’s base, and keep it upright.
- Measure the cabinet: the canister is 7.3 in across and 14.6 in tall, plus room to lift the head off.
- Keep the hoses as short as you can, with no loops or kinks.
Our buying guides size it for these tanks:
A filter rated for your tank can still be too tall for your cabinet or too strong for small fish: see how to choose one.

Choose and care for mechanical, biological and chemical media before buying replacement supplies.
Included items & upkeep
- pump head and canister
- intake pipe with strainer
- spray bar and outlet elbow
- hose (12/16 mm)
- suction cups with clips
- 2 lattice screens, 6 blue filter mats, a white filter fleece and a black carbon fleece
Plan for the routine work
- Take the carbon fleece out after the first 2 to 4 weeks, as EHEIM’s manual says.
- To clean it, unplug it, open the 5 clips, lift off the pump head and rinse the mats gently; refill the system with water before you plug it back in.
- Clean the impeller and its chamber now and then; the impeller’s shaft is ceramic and breaks easily.
To budget for replacement media and supplies, use the first-year cost calculator. For how often and how to clean it, follow the maker’s manual.
