No flow or no restart
Check whether the outlet is returning water and note when flow stopped: after cleaning, after an outage or during normal operation. Follow the maker’s isolation procedure before inspecting the intake, tubing, valves and impeller. Do not keep running a pump dry or invent a priming sequence.
For a Fluval 107 or 307, the 07 manual distinguishes the AquaStop opening sequence from re-priming after a lost hose vacuum. Use those instructions for that model. A Tidal’s self-priming design is a different system.
Rattle, hum or vibration
Note whether the sound is at the pump, filter body, hose, lid or cabinet. Look for an external contact point before assuming a failed motor. Check the exact manual for trapped-air, impeller and mounting procedures. Do not block ventilation or pack an electrical unit in improvised soundproofing.

Leak, damaged housing or wet connection
Do not reach for a wet plug. Follow the manual’s supply-disconnection instructions from a dry, safe location; get qualified help if the supply cannot be isolated safely. Stop an active leak before considering normal service. A damaged cord or housing is not a seal-replacement project.
For the 07 Series, follow the manual’s motor-head gasket inspection and specified lubricant instructions. Do not improvise a seal repair or substitute an electrical part. See dry connections and drip loops before restarting.
Temperature differs from the setting
Compare the heater setting with a separate thermometer, and note the room conditions and whether the unit is operating. Confirm immersion, orientation and water-level marks in its instructions. Follow its unplugging and cooling procedure before moving it.
