hygger AquaFall Aquarium Filter, S

hygger rates it for 7–10 US gal aquariums, framed or frameless, with glass up to 0.51 in thick.

A hang-on-back filter whose pump sits apart from the media box. The water passes through four chambers you fill as you like, from the sponges, ceramic balls, ceramic rings and carbon pad in the box, and falls back into the tank as a gentle waterfall that stirs the surface.

Consider: The media box stays outside the tank and takes any media you choose, but hygger makes this size only for 7 to 10 gallons.

US version, item HG287-S. Check what’s in the box before you buy.

Rated for a 10 gal tankDrawn to scale on a 10 gallon (example). Body 3 in deep and 4 in tall, hung on the back rim; check the gap behind the tank and the lid cut-out.

Pump output, filter circulation and maximum flow are measured in different ways. Your filter will move less water than the box says once media and hoses are in. Measure it with the flow calculator.

Before choosing this model

  • Measure the glass at the rim: hygger makes it for glass up to 0.51 in (13 mm) thick.
  • Fill it with water once before you plug it in; it starts by itself whenever the power comes on.
