hygger Double Biochemical Sponge Filter, Small
hygger suggests it for 10–40 US gal aquariums.
An air-driven filter with two ribbed sponges and a container of ceramic balls for the bacteria, run by an air pump. The outlet pipe extends and turns all the way round, and an air valve in the box sets how strong the flow is.
Consider: Two sponges give it more surface than a single sponge filter, but it needs an air pump, sold separately, and stands inside the tank.
US version, item HG256-S. Check what’s in the box before you buy.

Before choosing this model
- Add an air pump of 2.5 W or more, as hygger’s table gives for this size, with airline tubing and a check valve; the air valve is in the box, the pump is not.
- Fix it to the glass with the two suction cups, or hang it on the rim with the clip.
- Set the outlet just under the surface to stir the water with bubbles, or just above it for a small waterfall.

- hygger publishes no flow figure for it.

A filter rated for your tank can still be too tall for your cabinet or too strong for small fish: see how to choose one.
