Pothos is a houseplant grown with its roots in the aquarium and its leaves in the room. The roots take up nitrate and give fry somewhere to hide. Keep the leaves above water; submerged leaves rot. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs if chewed.
Common problems
- Rotting leaves that dip into the water; trim them.
- Roots blocking a filter intake; trim them back.
